About Romie Stanislavsky, Ph.D.

WELCOME TO MY PRACTICE

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing in Pasadena, California, with 10 years of experience working as a psychotherapist in the West Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley areas. I have a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. My training experience includes a psychology internship in the division of Hematology/Oncology at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and a pre and post doctoral internship at the Wright Institute Los Angeles. These experiences involved providing individual, family and group psychotherapy as well as psychodiagnostic evaluations and assessments to children, adolescents and adults from diverse cultural, clinical, social, educational and economic backgrounds.

I have employment history treating children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including community clinics, medical hospitals, crisis clinics, schools, as well as in private practice and I have developed a passion treating chronic illness, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss as well as relational problems and stress.

The focus of my practice is to develop a safe environment where you and I work together as a team to help identify factors that are interefering with and impacting your life. As we explore together, I challenge and help you to reflect on these issues as well as help you modify behavioral patterns that have been comprising your health, well being and happiness.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I moved to the United States in 1982. Most of my education has been in California, however, I often attend trainings nationally and internationally. In 1996 I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles and besides concentrating on the general education and requirements, I also focused on multicultural issues within psychology research. I was fortunate enough to meet wonderful professors that encouraged and supported me throughout my research assistanships. The focus of research was on childhood cancer and coping styles in the Latino community.

It was through these experiences that I decided to pursue a Doctorate in clinical psychology, specializing in Multicultural Community Clinical Psychology. While completing my doctorate, I held part time employment in a community clinic treating child abuse, domestic violence and trauma. I also completed an internship at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in the Division of Hematology/Oncology treating childhood cancer. And after so many years of hard work, I completed my doctorate dissertation focusing on Heart Disease risk reducing behaviors among the Latino population. Currently I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and I have opened a private practice in Pasadena, California.
